Billboard 200: 'Frozen' Soundtrack Claims No. 1 Spot

Six weeks after last taking the No. 1 spot at the box office, Disney's Frozen reclaimed the top spot this past weekend, a virtually unprecedented occurrence. And now, in an instance every bit as rare, the Frozen soundtrack has managed to take the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

The soundtrack to Disney's Frozen sold 165,000 copies, rising from No. 4 with a 55% gain in sales over last week. Frozen is now only the fourth animated film soundtrack in history to reach No. 1, after Jack Johnson's Curious George (2006), and Disney's Pocahontas (1995) and The Lion King (1994). It's also the first soundtrack to reach No. 1 in a year, since Les Misérables claimed the top spot on Jan. 19, 2013.

But with the success of Frozen comes the decline of Beyoncé, whose self-titled album drops from the No. 1 position to No. 2. Of course, "decline" is probably the wrong word for it, since the album still sold an impressive 130,000 copies. Beyoncé has now sold 1.43 million, surpassing the sales of the singer's previous album, 4, which sold 1.39 million copies in 2011.

The rest of the top 10 is about what you'd expect: Eminem is back up at No. 3 with The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (55,000 copies), while Katy Perry rises to No. 4 with PRISM (51,000 copies). Lorde reaches No. 5 with Pure Heroine (46,000 copies).

Meanwhile, One Direction takes the No. 6 spot with Midnight Memories (45,000 copies). But it isn't all about pop, as country and alt-rock made strong showings: Luke Bryan comes in at No. 7 with Crash My Party (43,000 copies), while Native from OneRepublic makes its first top 10 appearance since its debut week back in April 2013, selling 35,000 copies to take No. 8.

Rounding out the top 10 are Now 48, which rises from No. 12 to No. 9 with 34,000 copies sold, and Imagine Dragons, whose Night Visions falls one spot to No. 10 with 31,000 copies sold.
