Bill Murray Will Play Baloo in Disney's Live-Action 'Jungle Book'

Bill Murray is all about those "bear necessities," apparently.

Murray has been cast as the voice of Baloo in Disney's upcoming live-action version of its animated classic, The Jungle Book. He will star opposite 10-year-old newcomer Neel Sethi, who has been cast in the lead role of the young Mowgli. In addition, the Jon Favreau-directed film features a pretty stellar cast including Oscar winners Christopher Walken (as King Louie), Ben Kingsley (as Bagheera), and Lupita Nyong’o (as Raksha). The cast also features Scarlett Johansson (as Kaa), Giancarlo Esposito (as Akela), and Idris Elba (as Shere Khan).

The film hits theaters on October 9, 2015, a full year before Warner Bros.' separate adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling novel hits theaters. That film, to be directed by motion-capture extraordinaire Andy Serkis, will release on October 21, 2016. So let the Battle of the Jungle Books begin.
