Bill Hader To Develop and Star in New HBO Series

One of the most talented Saturday Night Live performers of this decade, and one of its most dearly-missed recent departures, is headed to HBO.

Bill Hader has signed on to develop and star in a new show for the network. Details are scarce beyond Hader's general involvement, but this is still good news, by any measure. Hader was one of the most skilled SNL alums in ages, creating such memorable characters as Stefon, and doing terrific impressions such as James Carville, to say nothing of his reliable straight-man persona in all of those damnable game show sketches. He was even good as a member of the kissing Vogelcheck family! In short, I've long been waiting to see Hader's next, major, non-Planters Peanuts-related project. That said, beyond , Hader has remained a busy man with full-time writing duties on South Park, and his big screen role in Amy Schumer and Judd Apatow's upcoming comedy, Trainwreck.

Basically, whether it's a half-hour comedy, or an hour-long talk show, I'm 100% convinced that Hader is making something that will be totally worth watching.
