Big Sean responds to Kendrick Lamar's 'Control' verse - Video
In an interview with Rap-Up TV, Big Sean is spilling the beans on his leaked track "Control," and the verse from Kendrick Lamar that has made the world go wild!
Sean said, "Of course Kendrick spazzed on it, of course Jay Elec spazzed on it. I feel like we all added our own flavors to it. I knew what it was for hip-hop culture. I knew how important it was.”
He didn't change his verse, even after he heard Lamar's, saying “I’m not a ho a** ni**a. I wasn’t gonna change my stuff for nothing. I didn’t want to alter it. knew how important it was and I just wanted to give it out there and orchestrate that and push the culture forward.
However, Sean didn't know the song would have this much of a response, noting that he hadn't seen a hip-hop song stir up this much excitement in years.” He has a reason why it did too - Kendrick's verse: "I think that name dropping really took it over the top for sure."
Sean revealed that "Control" could make the final Hall of Fame track listing because of a sample clearance issue, but he is "fighting" to get it on the digital version.
Hall of Fame is out August 27th.
