Big Love - The Noose Tightens - Recap
With Big Love ending it's final season, they've wasted no time in upping the intensity of the plots. This episode was Emmy worthy. Bill entire world is crumbling around him and he's forced to admit defeat. Not only is he wanted for rape of a minor, but Barb is now a person of interest as an accomplice to rape. I can see this making Barb want to snap. You can literally see her wanting to hop in her station wagon and step on the gas. Bill continues to fall as he loses his bitch business partner. Don is sick of deal with Bill's crap and tells Bill he wants out. He considers selling his share of the business to Alby so Bill tries to get him at his own game.
Apparently it's common knowledge around the Grant household that Alby was gay all his life. Were they just in denial about it this whole time? But it gets better. Apparently he had a relationship with (his?) nephew and the family has been keeping it hush hush ever since. Well, Bill knows and wants to use it to blackmail Alby into leaving him, his business, and his family alone. Please. Alby isn't going anywhere without a fight. And boy does he come back swinging with the help of Verlin. He hires Verlin to kill Bill once and for all.
Margene sure has a lot to worry about these days. She's summoned for questioning about her alleged rape and the entire situation I think is making her lose her mind. Being a part of two cults will do that to ya. The Goji guy who has been playing Margie all along wants to get her away from her cult of family, while her cult of a family wants to get her away from him. What a pickle. On top of all of that, she's dealing with knowing Cara Lynn is up to no good. And it's worse than I feared. Margene busts in on them having dinner and drags her out of there. The robe from last week was a tip off but apparently Greg and Cara Lynn are both no longer virgins. Yuck!
Margene tries to hide this from Nicki before she can figure out a better time to deal with it, while Nicki begs Ben for help in calming her mother down once she finds out. Ben thinks Cara Lynn needs help and insults Nicki for not being able to see what's going on. Nicki finally catches on and ends up in an epic showdown at Greg's house. Cara Lynn wants her permission to marry Greg but instead, Nicki tries to punch every little piece of Greg she can get her hands on. Sensing that his family will be torn apart, Bill offers to resign from the Senate if no charges are filed against him. After all that hard work and sacrifice from his family, he can so easily throw in the towel. I sure hope the wives are sensing how deluded and selfish Bill really is.
And then. Things got good. Nicki goes to confront Alby about his attack on her family but Verlin warns her to be careful and stay away. Nicki's always been one for the dramatic and instead of being careful, runs in and tells Alby she will destroy him. Yep. That's didn't go over too well. Alby ties her up and throws her in the closet with a hood over her head. Verlin helps Alby drag out the body not knowing it's Nicki. They put her in a tent and Verlin freaks out when he sees who he is supposed to kill. Alby turns the gun on Nicki while she pleads for her life. It's a powerful scene and worthy of an Emmy in my opinion. Alby proves just how broken and lost he really is when Nicki tries to remind him how close they used to be. He turns around and kills Verlin instead, unable to kill his sister. Phew!
With only two episodes left, do you think Bill will have three wives at the end?
