'Big Brother' Renewed For Two More Seasons
A sixteenth Big Brother winner was crowned last night on CBS, but the network is already looking ahead to next season...and the season after that.
CBS has renewed Big Brother for two more seasons, keeping the show on the air through summer 2016, at the very least. With 7.56 million viewers and a 2.7 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, Big Brother has grown exponentially in recent years, retaining its standing as one of the summer's most popular shows, and one of the only series that can stand up to summer's top network series, America's Got Talent.
“Big Brother continues to be the one of the summer’s most dominant programs, and with each season, Allison [Grodner] and Rich [Meehan] produce the most twisted ways to evolve the series creatively,” said CBS Executive VP of Alternative Programming Chris Castallo. “With its one-of-a-kind format, coupled with its passionate, socially engaged fan base, no other show comes close to duplicating it.”
In addition, TV Guide Network's companion series, Big Brother After Dark, has also been renewed.
So rejoice, because the plotting, backstabbing, and constant drama isn't going anywhere any time soon. And since Big Brother is one of the most addictive reality competition series on TV, we couldn't be happier. But please, no more stunt casting this time.
