Benedict Cumberbatch Gets Wet as Mr. Darcy for Charity (PHOTO)
Benedict Cumberbatch got wet from head to toe for charity, playing one of literature's sexiest roles in a steamy new photo.
Cumberbatch dressed up as Pride and Prejudice hunk Mr. Darcy, wading in waist-deep water and unbuttoning his shirt in support of the "Give Up Clothes for Good" campaign, which will benefit cancer research. The photo recreates the iconic "lake scene" from the 1995 BBC television adaptation starring Colin Firth. well but even just this one photo will likely be enough to enter Cumberbatch into the pantheon of "hottest Mr. Darcys," that erstwhile list populated by Matthew Macfadyen and Oscar winner Firth, whose portrayal of the character in the TV adaptation pretty much made him the standard by which all other Darcys were measured.
The photo, taken by photographer Jason Bell, is part of an exhibition hosted by TK Maxx and Cancer Research UK. In addition to the pic, the exhibit will feature images of other notable stars such as Liam Neeson, Kate Winslet and Elijah Wood. No word on if they'll be playing literary characters too, but if they are, it's going to be hard for anyone to top this. Check out the photo below:
