Benedict Cumberbatch Engaged to Stage Director Sophie Hunter

Benedict Cumberbatch is off the market. Sorry, everyone.

The Sherlock star is engaged to Sophie Hunter, an award-winning stage director, according to an engagement notice posted in the UK publication The Times:

“Mr B.T. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.”

This caps off a pretty huge year for Cumberbatch. In addition to winning an Emmy for Sherlock, Cumberbatch is getting Oscar buzz for his role in the upcoming Alan Turing biopic, The Imitation Game. He's also reportedly Marvel's choice for the lead role in Doctor Strange.

That said, Hunter is a success in her own right. Not only has she won the Samuel Beckett Award in 2007 for her original stage play, The Terrific Electric, she also recorded a French language album in 2005. Essentially, this will be the union of two insanely multi-talented people.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
