An ex-member of True Blood's Vampire Authority is joining Beauty and the Beast as a major figure from Vincent's (Jay Ryan) past.

Christopher Heyerdahl, who played Dieter Braun (Chancellor of the Vampire Authority) on True Blood, has been cast as Dr. Nicholas Markus, Vincent’s medical mentor. Markus is described as "a respected physician with tenure at Vincent’s former workplace."

Vincent is scheduled to reunite with Markus at St. Benjamin’s in a coming episode in which the titular Beast attempts to save someone, placing Markus in a potentially career-ending predicament.

Heyerdahl's will appear in the 14th episode of Beauty and the Beast's second season. Episode 11 airs tonight at 9/8c on The CW.
