Battlestar Galactica - "Revelations"

Battlestar Galactica

SPOILERS

If you have yet to watch this on your Tivo, don't read.

Last night we had the last episode of Battlestar Galactica on SciFi until the "first quarter of 2009". I've been watching this on the weekend, and not really blogging about it much, but it has been a satisfying watch for the most part.

Like I wrote before, BSG is very similar to my favorite Star Trek series Deep Space Nine with all the religious undertones, plus the 12 Tribes (of Israel) sweeping story arc. The io9 blog talked about the BSG - DS9 connection yesterday. It turns out Ronald D. Moore and 2 other writers worked on DS9, so they are masters of this religion-science-fiction thing.

So what happened? Well, just like the prophecy in Starbuck's mind, the Cylons and the humans unite to find and arrive at Earth -- after a do-or-die stand-off of course. However, when they arrive, it was not an Earth they were expecting. On hindsight it is a little bit predictable that they found a post-Apocalyptic scorched Earth -- and we don't really know yet what happened, except that it's not paradise. Plus, the last Cylon model still needs to be revealed.

Maybe it is indeed Starbuck, and she had flown from Earth back to the fleet to seek help, just like the other 4 models who "had been to Earth" before. Maybe Earth was/is a Cylon homeworld that went through a civil war, and the Final Five decided to seek help from the humans in some galaxy far far away by infiltrating their ranks. Anyway, I obviously don't know much, just thinking out loud.
