Ayla Brown Sings National Anthem at Republican National Convention - Video

Ayla Brown performed the national anthem at the 2012 Republican National Convention.  Brown competed on the fifth season of American Idol and is the daughter of Republican Senator Scott Brown.

Brown turned in a solid performance of the anthem.  I'm not a fan of vocal gymnastics when it comes to singing the anthem, so I liked her straight up take on it.  It didn't blow me away, but I enjoyed the smokey tone of her voice and think she has improved quite a bit since her Idol run.

Ayla Brown was eliminated during the semi-final round of American Idol Season five after performing the song "Unwritten."  Brown is currently pursuing a career in country music and released a self titled album in April, 2012 under the Ambient Entertainment at Ronnie's Place label.

Season five winner Taylor Hicks, joined Brown, Shannon Magrane and Danny Gokey as ex-Idols performing at the convention.

Perhaps Clay should have chosen idolspotting as his drinking game of choice.  I'm sure he would have been at least 50% more drunk with 100% less controversy.
