Awkward. - Recap: SOLD! Sadie's Your New Baby

Awkward. continued Season 3 tonight with an episode that featured a very stoned Jenna Hamilton at odds with her former besties. Meanwhile, Sadie's mother rolled back into town, making even that broad Aunt Ally look like a saint!

Awkward. Season 3 Episode 14, "The Bad Seed," pitted Jenna (Ashley Rickards) against the likes of her old clique following last week's barbecue blow-up. Jenna, who's continued to grow increasingly "corrupted" by Collin (Nolan Funk), worked out her stress with some help from a decent dose of Mary Jane. Sadie (Molly Tarlov), in the meantime, continued to bond butt heads completely with Aunt Ally (Barret Swatek), who'd reduced Sadie's school lunch to a handful of anxiety meds and a pack of cigs. While Jenna spent the majority of the episode aggravating those looking to make amends, Sadie would spend the same amount of time searching for somebody who cares at all. Lissa (Greer Grammer), meanwhile, has a crooked neck! Here is the Recap and Review of Awkward. Season 3 Episode 14, "The Bad Seed"!

Jenna and Collin opened Episode 14 bonked out of their minds on some decent high school- grade weed. Unfortunately, the cops would subsequently apprehend the pair, confiscating their stash before giving Jenna and her "friend" a lift home. Boy, is it just me, or is Awkward working overtime to vilify Collin as this season moves forward? It's like all of the charms that warmed us up to Collin have been tossed aside in favor of making Matty (Beau Bridges) look like a saint. All throughout the beginning of Season 3, it was Matty who looked like a total chump next to Collin's chemistry with Jenna. Is this only fair? As it turned out, Jenna's father, Kevin (Mike Faiola), was old chums with the police officer who'd almost arrested his daughter. Unfortunately for Kevin and Lacey (Nikki Deloach), Jenna was busted puffing a joint in the midst of their own smoke session at home. The gobbling down of potato chips was certainly a dead giveaway.

The next day, Jenna attempted to simultaneously unload her angst on Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) and Ming (Jessica Lu), glazing over the barrage of yexts (yelling texts) she'd sent after they'd seemed to ditch her barbecue. The two were unwavering in their demand for an apology on Jenna's part, though it seemed Jake (Brett Davern) had already forgotten all about his tiff with Tamara over the fact that she'd kept Jenna's affair a secret. In the end, Jenna might have been fishing for info regarding Matty's new love interest, Devon, but it was McKibben who'd man up and attempt to smooth things over with her. Was Jenna Devonstated by Matty's new girl? Though Matty, with Devon's approval, attempted to lend Jenna a shoulder to cry on following her ordeal with the cops, Jenna's snippy comment about the fact that he'd been "slumming" with a "rebound" was enough to drive even Matty away. In truth, he'd been "slumming it" with her.

I'm sure you remember Lacey's friend Ally, Sadie's new aunt and the woman who casually refers to Jenna as "Little Bitch." Sadie's Uncle Dan had paid the train wreck to watch over Sadie during Episode 14. Basically, Sadie served as someone with whom to bi**h to about the fact that she'd been struggling through issues getting pregnant. The opinions seemed to be unanimous that Ally shouldn't breed, yet she spent the entirety of the episode trying to figure out why. Eventually, Ally would attempt to get a little girl talk out of Lacey in the Hamilton family living room, much to Jenna's dismay. The last person she'd want to deal with in her house after a rough day at school was Sadie, who was happy to point out the fact that Collin will most likely dump Jenna the same way she betrayed Matty. If karma truly bites you in the a**, is that the reason why Sadie is broke? Jenna certainly seemed to think so! Jenna's mouth inevitably got her into yet another pickle, though, as she'd attempted to swipe her parents stash of weed just moments earlier, giving Sadie the perfect ammo she needed to fire back.

While Jenna's father was furious and quite hard on his daughter, Lacey continued to serve as her only support during Episode 14. That is, aside from Collin. All Lacey asked of Jenna was that she cooled it down with her new boy-toy for just a little while as things were blowing over. Jenna, determined to burn every bridge, inevitably ran straight to Collin that evening. After sneaking out, she came to find herself in a sticky situation yet again. In truth, she wasn't ready to go all the way with her new flame, yet as her only true friend left, Collin seemed all the more valuable to her. While he was fine with waiting, Jenna, in a hasty move that would come back to haunt her later, decided to willingly become a notch on the bedpost if it meant securing a relationship. Devastated by her rash decision, she returned home a weeping mess to find her mother enraged and disappointed. Jenna had broken her trust.

Sadie's mother, on the other hand, had returned home from "exhaustion camp," a.k.a. a month long vacation to Santa Fe she'd spent shacking up with her new "healer" boyfriend. Sadie, disgusted, suddenly realized just how little she meant to her mother, who considered the few hours on a plane back to Santa Fe to be the only one-on-one time she'd need to spend with her daughter before the two would move in with her new man. The next day, Val (Desi Lydic) would play the mediator between the two in her office. Sadie, refusing to sign the transfer papers, requested an emancipation, and the most unlikely of supporters would jump in. Ally, realizing that Sadie, as a baby capable of "wiping her own a**," would make life easier for her, offered to sign up as Saxton's legal guardian. Sadie's mother was all too happy to hand her over.

In the hallway, Sadie stood destroyed by her mother's complete lack of love and empathy. The two hugged before the heinous woman left Sadie on the brink of tears. On the opposite end of the hallway, Jenna breezed by her former friends, continuing to refuse to give in to their requests for an apology. Instead, she decided to skip class with Collin... to light one up.

What did you think of Awkward. Season 3 Episode 14, "The Bad Seed"? Do you like that Sadie is getting nearly as much screen time as Jenna this season? Is Jenna really all that bad? Is Collin an awful influence or just misunderstood?
