Avril Lavigne marries Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger

Love is in the air in the Great White North.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Canadian rockers Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have tied the knot. The musicians wed at a ceremony in Cannes, France, earlier today. The wedding was described as an "intimate" affair, with Us Weekly reporting that Lavigne wore a Johanna Johnson custom-made dress.

After a six-month courtship, the Nickelback frontman proposed to Lavigne with a 14-carat diamond ring last August. The couple grew closer while working together on Lavigne's upcoming fifth studio album.

“I knew I was falling for her,” Kroeger said, after their engagement was officially announced. “It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget."

This is the first marriage for Kroeger, 38, and the second for Lavigne, 28, who was married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley from 2006-2009.
