Audrey Kate Geiger Earns West Coast Save on 'Rising Star'
Rising Star is heading into its season finale next week, which means that tonight's West Coast Save is the last of the season (barring some kind of crazy twist). It was a surprising night of performances as the Top 6 hit the stage, with three advancing and three facing elimination: Austin French's rendition of "Love Runs Out" and Jesse Kinch's version of "Billie Jean" secured them spots in the Top 3 alongside a surprise under dog challenger, as Dana Williams knocked it out of the ballpark with her version of Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning". This meant the three singers vying for the West Coast Save were Joshua Peavy, Maneepat Molloy, and former high-scorer Audrey Kate Geiger, who faced elimination for the very first time in the competition.
However, Audrey Kate didn't remain on the chopping block for long, as the singer earned the West Coast Save and will compete in next week's finale.
Congrats to @audreykateG with the #WestCoastSave #RisingStar ????????????????

Unfortunately, this means we say goodbye to Joshua Peavy and Maneepat Molloy. Peavy came close to unseating Williams with his solid rendition of "What Hurts the Most", but fell three percentage points short. Meanwhile, Maneepat missed out on serious contention with her iffy performance of Sia's "Chandelier". However, I'd argue she had a pretty good run in the competition while it lasted. As did Peavy, for that matter.
As for Audrey Kate, this marks a significant comeback for the singer, whose lovely but understated version of "Killing Me Softly" failed to knock Dana Williams out of the hot seat. Could she rally and make a comeback in the finale? We'll find out next week! As for this result, what do you think? Did the right singer earn the West Coast Save? Sound off in the comments!
