Ashley Monroe Says Pistol Annies Won't Be Working Together Anytime Soon

Last summer, all-female country trio the Pistol Annies cancelled their tour, claiming they didn't have time to rehearse.

Immediately beset by rumors of a group break-up, the speculations have continued to rage as the three seemed to go their separate ways, although increasingly with Ashley Monroe showing friendship to fellow Annie Miranda Lambert (Miranda was Ashley's maid of honor last October), and Angaleena Presley working with a whole different set of collaborators on her own solo project.

Although rumors circulated recently that the reason behind it all was that Miranda couldn't get along with Angaleena's husband, the former's ex-tour manager, these are unconfirmed. I asked Ashley recently if she could elaborate on everything and shed any more light on things for their confused fanbase.

"I think we’ve told what happened, it’s funny how people just make up things, even after you tell what happened", Ashley said. "It is what we said it was, we didn’t have time to rehearse for the tour, and we wanted to be our best."

She continued, "It’s really as simple as that, but it’s entertaining to read all the different views. All the soap opera stories people can make up! I understand you know, I’m glad people care!"

However, when the Annies cancelled their tour, they also pulled their single 'Hush Hush' from radio, and when their sophomore album Annie Up hit stores soon after they released no more singles from it and made no more public appearances. So just when will the Annies be working together again? Well, according to Ashley, not anytime soon.

"We don’t have any plans right now, Miranda’s making her record, Anga’s making one, I’m making one end of February," she explained. "We’re all doing our own thing right now, which is fine, it’s what we wanted to do originally." She sounded a little sad as she said this, which might indicate there is more to this than what she's saying.

Either way, bad news for Pistol Annies fans.
