Ashley Monroe Announces More Music For 2014

Ashley Monroe became a critics darling when she released her fantastic traditional-leaning Like A Rose last February.

The album spawned three singles and a popular duet with Blake Shelton, but Ashley's not resting on her laurels, or an awesome year that also saw her get married. She told me in an interview that she will be returning to the studio at the end of February to record her next album, with Vince Gill back producing. With five songs apparently already picked for the tracklisting, she also sat down with acclaimed artist/songwriter Brandy Clark this week to write more.

Ashley confirms that the new record will be solidly country, "The thing is, I can’t be anything but country. Even if I sing an Aerosmith song it’ll sound country," Ashley explains. "I’m just writing the best songs I can write. I asked Vince to produce it, and I was just talking to him about how I wanted it to sound and he said you know what buddy, let’s just let the great song speak for itself. And I said there you go, that’s right." There's no official release date yet, but Ashley assures us she'll do her best to make things move quickly for fans, "I think we’re gonna make it as quick of a turnaround as we can between recording and releasing it."
