'Arrow' Recasts Katana for Season 3

A scheduling conflict for actress Devon Aoki has led to Katana being recast for Arrow Season 3. However, The CW was quick to find a talented actress to fill the vacancy.

The Wolverine star Rila Fukushima will replace Aoki in the role of Katana, the DC Comics heroine whose birth name is Tatsu Yamashiro. Katana will serve as one of Oliver's mentors in flashbacks detailing Yamashiro's influence in his development as the Arrow. Fukushima is a great pick for the role, although I admit I am a bit disappointed that we're losing out on Aoki. She had a striking onscreen presence, dating back to her memorable role in Sin City (a role which, ironically, was also recast in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, because Aoki apparently can't catch a break). We'll see how Fukushima does in the role when Arrow returns for Season 3 on October 8th at 8:00 PM ET on The CW.
