Ariana Grande, Idina Menzel To Be Honored at Billboard Women In Music Awards

Billboard Woman of the Year recipient Taylor Swift isn't the only person Billboard is looking to honor at its Women In Music Awards 2014.

Ariana Grande and Idina Menzel have also been named as honorees at the annual event, to be held on Dec. 12 in New York.

Grande, who will receive the Billboard Rising Star Award, is fresh off her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as My Everything topped the charts in September on the strength of hits like "Problem" and "Break Free".

"To be recognized alongside some of the most influential women in the music business is such an incredible honor," said Grande, in a statement. "Receiving the 'Rising Star' award is truly amazing and I'm extremely grateful!"

Meanwhile, Menzel will receive the Breakthrough Artist Award, which might surprise some, considering she's a Tony winner whose success far predates 2014. But this was still a breakthrough year for Menzel regardless, as she became the first Tony winner to score a Billboard Top 10 hit. Despite releasing in 2013, "Let It Go" became one of the biggest hit singles of 2014, carrying the Frozen soundtrack to thirty-nine nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Soundtracks chart. Even John Travolta mangling her name at the Oscars couldn't slow her rise: Menzel's new Christmas album, Holiday Wishes, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Holiday Albums chart.

"I'm so honored to receive the Breakthrough Artist Award from Billboard," said Menzel. "This has definitely been an amazing breakthrough year and I'm thrilled and humbled by it all, including this wonderful award."

In the next few weeks, Billboard is expected to announce the recipients for the Icon Award and Country Artist of the Year. Who do you think will be the recipients? And what do you think of Grande and Menzel being named as the latest honorees? Sound off in the comments!
