Apple Lets You Know How You Can Delete the New U2 Album
Have you had your share of U2? Would you rather just get rid of all this free music you didn't ask for and move on with your life? Then Apple has got your back.
Apple has revealed a method for iTunes users to remove U2's new, free album from their account. But why would someone want to do this? Probably because not everyone actually wanted a new U2 album in the first place.
Songs of Innocence, U2's first studio album in five years, was automatically downloaded to over 500 million iCloud accounts across the world just six days ago, in a cross-promotion with the reveal of the iPhone 6 and the iWatch. However, when you sync 11 songs to a user's device without his or her permission, you're bound to get a little mainstream blow-back. Granted, the hell Apple caught for putting Songs of Innocence in its users accounts wasn't enough to offset the mostly positive buzz generated by the launch of the iPhone 6 and iWatch products. But it was certainly a bit of a black mark on what would otherwise have been a relatively problem-free launch.
So how do you get rid of the new album if you're a user who simply didn't want it?
Simply go to iTunes.com/soi-remove to delete the album with one click. For those who wish to download it again, you'll have until October 13 to do so, after which point you'll have to pay full price for the album. But given the uproar over the automatic download in the first place, we're not sure many users are going to change their minds.
But what are your thoughts? Did you keep the album? What did you think of it? Sound off in the comments!
