Apple Debuts New Holiday Commercial, Tears Are Shed (VIDEO)

Leave it to Apple to give the a run for its money in the goosebumps department.

"The Song" is the latest Apple holiday ad to tug on the heartstrings of viewers who had no idea a FEELS BOMB was about to be dropped right into the middle of their Sunday night programming. This particular ad tells the tale of a young woman who uses her Apple products to record a duet with a recording grandmother made for her grandfather decades earlier. She then presents the recording to her grandmother on Christmas morning on an iPad mini 3. Naturally, grandma is brought to tears, and she's probably not the only one. Hell, I had a lump in my throat the entire time, so either I'm an emotional guy or I need to get something checked out.

"With a Mac, iPhone or iPad you have the power to create thoughtful, emotional gifts and memories that transcend time," reads the description for the ad. "It could be a movie, a homemade card or a song that brings two generations closer together."

While the John Lewis ad is still the gold standard in heart string-tugging, lip-quivering, eye-reddening holiday emotions (seriously, haven't made it through once without tearing up), this Apple ad comes pretty damn close. At the very least, it adds to Apple's legacy of heartwarming holiday ads, after .
