Anoop Desai performs "My Name" at Malan Breton Fall 2010 - Video

Anoop Desai sings his first single "My Name" at the Bollywood-inspired Malan Breton Fall 2010 show in New York.
I have to admit this sounded a bit off. The acoustics were horrible in the space -- it's a warehouse -- so Anoop probably could not hear the music correctly. However, it really didn't matter since it was a show about clothes. Anoop closed out the show which was really nice -- and afterwards, the media swarmed around him and Malan Breton doing interviews.
I've never been to a fashion show before so this was a great experience for me. If you are following me on Twitter, you know how excited I was. I saw Ronnie from "Make Me A Supermodel" (the other half of the original bromance "Bronnie"), Constantine Maroulis (how ironic since I just blogged about him this morning) and Mark Indelicato (Justin of Ugly Betty). Producer Desmond Child was also in attendance -- and I only know this because he yelled out his name when the ticket person asked who he was. There were probably other "names" in the room, but I'm so sheltered I wouldn't have known I was standing beside someone famous.

Malan had sent me an invitation the other day, and it was only a couple of days ago that I read that Anoop would show up -- so I really needed to go even if I was hesitating. Thankfully, Howard talked me into it.
I was a bit relieved that I did not stick out like a sore thumb among the "fashionistas" -- and of course it helped boost my confidence a little bit that I actually knew the designer and the guest singer.
When it was over, after a lot of mini-fails (I almost walked out but again, Howard talked me back in!) -- I was able to get a picture with Mark Indelicato (and a greeting for our Betty-tern Noelle!), give Malan Breton a hug in between interviews (and actually get nudged by Desmond Child who thought I was going to hit the 2 kids with him while I was turning around), and of course talk to Anoop Desai (and get a greeting for the blog!)
I honestly thought Anoop was very thin -- although I really have no reference. Maybe he's always been this way. I was just expecting him to have some more meat on him. (He didn't strike me as this thin when I first saw him at Regis and Kelly).
Anyway, I look forward to his upcoming EP and helping out with getting the word out. I also told him to get a rapper to do a few lines on his single to help it get out there.
Thanks Anoop! (For giving me a reason to get out of the apartment among other things.) Enjoy your time in New York.
P.S. The best thing about this experience? I walked home. (I live a few blocks away from the venue).
