Andy Samberg to Star in British TV Series

Andy Samberg, who recently announced he is leaving Saturday Night Live, will next star in a British comedy series called Cuckoo.

BBC Three, the U.K. network that targets 16- to 34-year-olds, announced that Samberg will play a "slacker full of outlandish, New Age ideas."

A network description explains that the show starts off with a couple picking up their daughter at the airport after she's been traveling for a year.

"At the arrival gate, she promptly introduces them to her new husband, Cuckoo (Andy Samberg) - the squared-jawed, self-appointed spiritual ninja who is now their son-in-law," the description said.

Executive producer Ash Atalla said the show represents "The best of British meets the toast of Hollywood."

"We hope Cuckoo cements the special relationship between our two great countries," he added. "I imagine [Barack] Obama and [British Prime Minister David] Cameron will be watching closely."
