Andrew Rannells Returning to HBO's 'Girls'

Last year, Tony nominated Book of Mormon actor Andrew Rannells left HBO's Girls to star in a lead role on the then-new NBC comedy The New Normal. One year later, and it's time for a hard reset.

With The New Normal's cancellation comes Rannells' decision to return to Girls, reprising his role as Hannah's (Lena Dunham) gay ex-boyfriend/roommate Elijah. His original role has been at a recurring capacity, having appeared in eight episodes in the first two seasons. But with his return comes an increased profile, as Rannells is expected to become a regular on the show if it is renewed for a fourth season.

Girls will return for its third season on Sunday, January 12 at 10:00 PM on HBO.
