Amy Robach of ABC News revealed on Good Morning America today (Nov. 11) that she been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo a double mastectomy soon.
"The diagnosis that's still hard for me to say out loud. I have breast cancer," Robach admitted on air (via Us Weekly). "I know that I have a fight ahead of me. But I also know that I have a lot worth fighting for."
Robach underwent the breast cancer test at the urging of GMA co-anchor and cancer survivor Robin Roberts, who asked Robach to have the procedure for an on-air segment.
As she revealed, "If I got the mammogram on air and it saved one life, then it's all worth it. It never occurred to me that that life would be mine."
An emotional Robach later admitted, "It's absolutely surreal to be sitting here. But as scary as it all is, I'm so so lucky -- because you guys pushed me to that mammogram -- thank god you did, I wasn't in any rush to have that done any time soon."
Later on, Robach told Robert, "You saved my life" to which Roberts replied, "You saved your life, Amy."
All the tears right now. We wish Robach all the best and a speedy recovery!
