Amy Connolley sang 'The Greatest Love of All' on The X Factor UK 2014 Arena Auditions.

HOW?! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT, SIMON?!?! UGH, this show.

Okay, now that I've vented, I should probably even it out with some criticism, since I can absolutely see why Simon said no. This was simply the wrong song. In fact, I'm not sure there's been a cornier hit song that I can remember than "The Greatest Love of All" (although suggestions are welcome!). The song choice prevented her from really blowing away the competition the way she should have, as there's no way to sing this song that doesn't sound inherently karaoke-ish. She could be a star, but this was not the song to showcase it. I'm absolutely gutted that Amy didn't make it through, but it was mostly her own fault with that song choice, as much as I hate to say it. I'm heartsick for her, and feel the judges made a mistake not giving her one last chance, yet I can see why they didn't. I really do hope she comes back next year though, and makes wiser song choices. Because there's absolutely no reason she shouldn't have been a threat to make the live shows.
