Amy Brenneman Returning to 'Reign'

Mary's mama is coming back to France!

Amy Brenneman will reprise her role as Marie de Guise when Reign returns in 2015 for the second half of Season 2.

“We are very excited to welcome back Amy Brenneman as Marie de Guise in an episode airing next year,” said executive producer Laurie McCarthy. “You never know what’s coming with Marie de Guise, and this time will be no different as she delivers a series of shocking revelations to Mary, and ultimately forces her to face and confront her failing relationship with Francis.”

Things are likely still going to be frosty between mother and daughter ever since Mary kicked her mom out of France for spreading rumors about Queen Elizabeth's death, nearly plunging the kingdom into chaos in the process. But it doesn't seem like Marie de Guise is going to be easing up on her controversial ways.

As McCarthy teases: “And get ready to see how Marie inadvertently causes one of the ladies-in-waiting to experience something they’ve never experienced before!”

This season of Reign has had some serious problems in its storytelling, but I'm still willing to stick it out with the show, which is still among my guiltiest pleasures on TV. So I'll be there when Reign returns Thursday, Jan. 22 at 9:00 PM ET on The CW.
