America's Next Top Model - Cycle 20 Episode 16 - Recap & Results - Finale Part 2: The Guy Or Girl Who Becomes America's Next Top Model
Here it is! The CW gives us our finale to cycle 20 of America's Next Top Model! Last episode had a cliffhanger ending after the big reveal of an elimination right before the big runway challenge! The wait has been murder. Anyway, they open up with a resolution! Here we go!
Cory is eliminated. I'm so mad I could explode. Even after this, he's still walking in the show. Marvin doesn't deserve to be there. Cory is a better model with a better look. I feel like the judges had a grudge against him for not being super buff and square-jawed and masculine! At this point, I would rather see Marvin win than Jourdan, because he's got a better sad backstory. But then the rest of the episode happened.
Before the actual runway show, we get to see the "fashion film" out three finalists (with guest spots from the eliminated models) made, and it is just as bad and stupid as I'd pictured from the making-of portion. Then we're on to the show itself. The three finalists walk together first (Marvin does terrible), then cycle 19's winner, and then all the cycle 20 models as individuals. Though I am loathe to admit it, Jourdan's walk is amazing. Unfortunately, her dress gets caught under her shoe on the way back and she stumbles. Marvin relishes her every mistake.
The next phase of the runway show has the three finalists continuing their fashion film story. Jourdan has on this crazy big gold cape and chunky shoulder thing. Cory and Marvin have a little argument over her, then she knocks down Cory. All as rehearsed. Then, she goes off-script and smooches Marvin on the mouth instead of the cheek. He's visibly surprised! During the following parade of all the models, Jourdan totally nails it. She's fierce and stunning and really burns up the runway.
Then, it is final photoshoot time! Tyra is doing makeup and snapping photos this time. The models are in their undies, so it's all about the models and how they perform. No part of the scoring can really come down to their outfits or their makeup, because it's all simple and plain.
Then it all gets to judging time... over twenty minutes before the end of the episode?? Hmmm! The prizes up for grabs here: A contract with NEXT Modeling, a $100k GUESS Jeans as campaign, and a spread in Nylon magazine (which they all already shot). The models loved both finalsts's runway walk. I'm not into what Marvin did here, but okay. Then we get a retrospectove on the cycle, spending some time with the best photos Marvin and Jourdan shot this season. Then we finally get to the last photos. These are probably these two models' best shots. They look like whole new people and it's really superb.
The judges spend a lot of time discussing the finalists. They disagree over who works best for which prize. They take into account the models' off-camera personalities, but then discount that entirely, saying the photo is all that matters. Except then, the catwalk crew comes up. Jourdan is unpopular but Marvin is well-liked. Though if they were going for the most well-liked models, Cory and Nina would be up there instead.
And America's Next Top Model is... Jourdan! Predictions be damned, the better model won! This has been a weird ride of a cycle, with men entering the competition for the first time. Also, this has been the biggest show I've covered on Rickey so far, I think! You've all been so great this cycle! Your comments are fun and funny, and it's been cool to know I've got people watching the show with me! Thank you all so much! Here's one last preview!
