America’s Next Top Model – Cycle 20 Episode 12 – Recap & Results - The Guy Who Has a Panic Attack
After last week’s deeply stressful ending results, America’s Next Top Model is back on The CW for another round. This episode, Tyra Banks takes the models to Bali!
The models arrive in Bali, super excited to see what they’re up to. Jourdan is being really obnoxious about how new this all is to her. Cory is hilariously mean making fun of her in his talking head segment. I love Cory and I hate Jourdan, so it’s especially funny. Anyway, they get into the resort and Nina loses her mind about being in the Tyra Suite. She’s real cute about it. Usually the other models get catty about the winning model, but I don’t think anyone can hate Nina!
Once everyone is settled, the dudes hit the hot tub and start trashing one another. Everyone seems to think Chris deserved to go home. Weirdly, none of the girls participate in this trashing. Also, the gross-out yucktown Marvin/Renee romance continues, and I hate it. Marvin is really weird.
First challenge in Balie: An underwater catwalk! Nina expresses concern about her condition (apparently she’s missing half a lung??), and rightfully so! She isn’t able to participate in the challenge, so she starts weeping openly. She gets pretty upset that Chris does nothing to comfort her, even though Cory tries his best. Anyway, the girls who walk do really well and the guys do badly. Don has a problem because of his anxiety disorder, and he ends up bailing. Nina and Don do an alternate challenge of a snorkel dive. It’s shallower, so it doesn’t trigger Don’s anxiety or Nina’s crappy lung. Both of them do bad regardless. Renee takes home the win this challenge.
This week’s photoshoot has the models working with animals. Cory and Jourdan gets paired with an orangutan. Cory nails it, but Jourdan seems afraid of the animal. Nina and Don get a python. Both of them do bad, I guess because snakes are temperamental?? Renee and Jeremy get a leopard. Renee is super scared of it, so she doesn’t do well, but Jeremy totally sells it. He’s fearless with this big cat! Marvin and Chris are paired with a macaw, but neither of them does very well. After, trouble in paradise! Renee and Marvin get into a fight about how they’re both middle of the pack. Marvin is not good at impressing people he wants to have sex with, clearly!
Now, judging time! The judges don’t like Renee’s photo, but she stills pull two 8s and a 7. Cory (who had a great photo) doesn’t do so well with social media. Don’t runs the spectrum, with a 6, 7, and 9. Kelly just adores Chris’s photo, but it sucked and social media hated it and the other judges hated it also. Nina, despite the clever editing earlier to make it look like she did badly, has a great photo. The rest end up with mixed to bad results. The judges can’t agree tonight!
The top this week is… Nina! Hooray! I’m so glad she’s not eliminated! Renee is runner-up. Bottom two this week: Don and Marvin. Marvin’s charm hasn’t been enough so far in this competition, but he’s hung on. Don has a natural presence, but his modeling is subpar. Our eliminated model this week is… Don!
This week had some really exciting challenges! The drama stayed a little subdued, but the whole thing with coming to Bali would’ve been overshadowed, so it’s fine. We’re getting really close to the end of the season now, and it’s getting scarce! Check out the preview below!
