America's Got Talent 9 Results for 09/10/2014 (Recap + Video)

Welcome to the live blog and recap of America's Got Talent 2014, "Top 12 Results" on Wednesday, September 10, 2014! Last night's show was one for the ages, as it might have actually been the single best performance show of the year, in my opinion. America has its work cut out for them in ways I couldn't possibly imagine.

As a reminder, here are the 12 performers vying for the 6 spots tonight (click on their name to see a list of their performances, including their performance from last night):

Mike Super
Sons of Serendip
Emily West
Miguel Dakota
Mara Justine
David & Leeman
AcroArmy
Emil and Dariel
Quintavious Johnson
Mat Franco
Blue Journey
Christian Stoinev

My predictions are Emily West, Quintavious Johnson, Sons of Serendip, AcroArmy, Mat Franco, and...hmm, I can't decide on a sixth act, so I'm just going to guess and say David & Leeman (although Mike Super seems more likely, if we're going with a magic act. But I've made my choice, for better or worse).

Which six acts do you predict to advance? Are they the same as the six acts you WANT to advance? Let us know who your six are in the comments! And keep it locked right here, as I'll be updating with my live, running commentary and the results!

Let's get this show on the road!

RECAP

-We open with Nick Cannon letting us know that the America's Got Talent Top 12 results will be seen in its entirety after the Presidential Address. So stay tuned!

-After the presidential address, we open the show with Nick Cannon getting taken hostage by Miss Piggy. He insists that America's Got Talent is only for new talent, but Miss Piggy has other plans. We get a full Muppet Show opening while Nick tries to escape from the locks and chains, and you know what? I kind of loved this. Such a welcome blast of nostalgia. I can never tire of these silly characters.

-We get judge introductions from Nick and Kermit the Frog, and a humorous comparison between Howard Stern and Statler and Waldorf. And now, we can finally begin the show!

-It's a recap of last night's show. Mara Justine is breathless, while Howie is speechless after David and Leeman. Quintavious and Emily West watch Sons of Serendip on the screen backstage with open-mouthed awe. Howard thinks Christian Stoinev is back, saying "THAT'S the guy we discovered!" Emil and Dariel express their amusement about the disagreement at the judges' table. Heidi reiterates that Quintavious can win this, and he finds his family in the back and warns them against crying. Howie continues to be amazed by Mike Super, while Blue Journey gets pre-performance tips from Quintavious. Miguel Dakota says he had no idea he'd make it this far, adding that it would be a dream to perform in the Top 6. One of the Sons of Serendip express how great Emily West is while watching her performance backstage, with Howie adding, "Once you think you can't top it, you top it." Mat Franco, meanwhile, thinks this could be the year a magic act wins, and he hopes it's him. Howie and Heidi then gush about how the performance show was the best, plain and simple.

-Nick reveals that the Snapple Save is still in effect. Nick reveals the 5th, 6th, and 7th place acts...

Emil and Dariel
Miguel Dakota
Sons of Serendip (WHAT?!?!)

-Mel B says that it's going to be incredibly difficult for America to decide, since there's a lot of talent onstage, but the choice seems fairly clear to me. It's Sons of Serendip or BUST!

-After the break, Nick is backstage with Jackie Evancho, who tells the remaining finalists to be confident in everything they do. Trust me, she was far more eloquent than I was.

We then throw to the Reddi-Whip After Party, with Quintavious sneaking into Nick's dressing room, an AcroArmy dancer doing some crazy, body-bending moves, and Nick doing push-ups with Scooby on his back. Cute stuff, and now I kind of want Reddi-Whip, which I guess is the point of these things.

RESULTS, PT. 1

-Nick calls Emily West and Mara Justine to the stage, and Mara has a look of resignation on her face like she already knows. And it's all academic from here...

EMILY WEST advances to the finals!

MARA JUSTINE is eliminated from AMERICA'S GOT TALENT 2014!

-Emily expresses how difficult that just was, but she seems genuinely happy to have advanced, of course. Howard congratulates Emily by telling her there aren't words to describe how good she was last night. He wouldn't be surprised if she won this whole thing. Neither would I, although I'm going to miss Mara Justine.

RESULTS, PT. 2

-Nick keeps things moving by calling AcroArmy and Blue Journey to the stage. The result...

ACROARMY advances to the Finals!

BLUE JOURNEY is eliminated from AMERICA'S GOT TALENT 2014!

-Howie says "WOW!" and says this act is exactly what this show needs, and states that they're exactly what America's Got Talent is all about. "Welcome to the finals!"

A great decision by America, although Blue Journey is another act I'll miss. The talent on this season has just been ridiculous, and last night's show was the pinnacle.

-Back from break with more jokes with the Muppets, as Howie tries to tell a "Why did the chicken cross the road?" joke, to no avail.

JACK EVANCHO performs live!

-In her pre-performance package, we see how Jackie's life has blown-up since appearing on Season 5 of America's Got Talent, and she thanks the show for allowing her to get to the point where she even could record five albums and have this sort of career in the first place. Honest question, has there been a bigger success on this show than Jackie? I ask because I'm genuinely not sure.

-She sings "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera, and this is RIDICULOUS. It's been four years and I STILL have no idea how this girl didn't win her season. This was absolutely stunning. Her vocal runs at the end are incredible. She gets a well-deserved standing ovation.

-Jackie says being back on the stage has left her flooded with nerves and other emotions, but she's glad to be back. Nick plugs her new album, Awakenings, and I'm seriously considering buying it, after that.

-Back from break with Statler and Waldorf expressing their appreciation for Howard Stern, while Howard laments not having a hand shoved up his backside like the Muppets do. He then states how much more he enjoys talking to puppets than talking to the other three judges, before asking Nick what the hell is happening to his career. A cute segment that is completely overshadowed by the next part, as Miss Piggy sings "It's Raining Men" with Heidi and Mel B. And was it just me, or did Heidi have the best voice of the three? For those keeping track, that's two weeks in a row now where Mel B and Heidi have had the best comedy segment on the results show.

RESULTS, PT. 3

-Nick calls Quintavious Johnson and Christian Stoinev forward, and this should be another fairly obvious result...

QUINTAVIOUS JOHNSON advances to the Finals!

CHRISTIAN STOINEV is eliminated from AMERICA'S GOT TALENT 2014!

-Quintavious is overjoyed, and Heidi is happy for him. "Good luck in the next round, and just keep it up!" she tells him. Yeah, America is making the right choices here. Not that I'm surprised, but I don't have a problem with a single one of the acts that have advanced so far.

RESULTS, PT. 4

-Nick calls Mat Franco, Mike Super, and David & Leeman forward. It's a magic showdown! Nick reads the result...

MAT FRANCO advances to the Finals!

MIKE SUPER and DAVID AND LEEMAN are eliminated from AMERICA'S GOT TALENT 2014!

-Mat talks about how much respect he has for all the other acts, and says he can't even describe what it's like to be in the finals. Howard tells Mat he's now the only magician left, which leaves him in a really good spot to potentially win it all, since the singing vote could be split between all the remaining musical acts. That's a great point, actually, that I haven't really thought about. Then again, I'm wondering what kind of crossover the music acts even have. Are the people voting for Emily West also voting for Quintavious and vice-versa? I think each act has his or her own fanbases, meaning the finals could be decided by undecided voters. Unless one person's fanbase is already so big they can't be overtaken.

-Back from break with a farewell from the Muppets. No Ed Sheeran to be found. I'm guessing his planned appearance was canned?

RESULTS, PT. 5

-It's time to reveal the results of the Snapple Save, as it's all down to Emil and Dariel, Miguel Dakota, and Sons of Serendip. The result...

SONS OF SERENDIP advance to the finals!

-The guys are overwhelmed, expressing that they're thrilled to know that America believes in them. Howie tells them to be true to their talent, since this is the biggest talent show in the history of talent shows. He expresses his hope that America "gloms on" and really gets behind them. This was 100% the right decision. I can't wait to see what they do in the finals.

FINAL RESULTS

-The judges have deliberated. It's the last Judges' Choice of the season, as it's between Miguel Dakota and Emil and Dariel.

Heidi Klum tells Emil and Dariel they're fantastic, as they've shown us all a different way of playing the cello. She then says that Miguel is a stud-muffin who's brought a lot to the show. And so...

Heidi Klum votes for Miguel Dakota!

Mel B likes Miguel, and respects Emil and Dariel's passion. However, she has to go with the act she feels has been a superstar since Day 1...

Mel B votes for Miguel Dakota!

Howie thinks the brothers are an amazing talent, while Miguel could be the biggest star this show has ever had. However, he must vote on pure talent alone, so...

Howie votes for Emil and Dariel!

Howard tells Miguel he needs to pick better songs, while Emil and Dariel need a singer. Why not just combine these two acts then? Ah well...

Howard votes for Emil and Dariel!

WE HAVE A DEADLOCK!

Nick Cannon reads the results of America's vote...

MIGUEL DAKOTA advances to the Finals!

EMIL AND DARIEL are eliminated from AMERICA'S GOT TALENT!

-Well, might as well rename this show America's Got Singers. I don't mind if the singers are amazing, but Miguel just did not deliver last night. At all.

I'm going to miss the hell out of the wider variety of acts, from Blue Journey to Mike Super and David & Leeman, since those are the kind of acts that keep me from feeling like I'm reviewing The Voice year-round. That said, next week's finale feels like a foregone conclusion, unless the singer votes get split and make this interesting, providing an opening for Mat Franco or AcroArmy to make a run at the title.

-To recap, the final six acts for America's Got Talent Season 9 are...

Emily West
AcroArmy
Quintavious Johnson
Mat Franco
Sons of Serendip
Miguel Dakota

So what did you think of these results? Did the right acts go through? Who will win America's Got Talent 2014? Sound off in the comments! Until next week, thank you for joining me! It's been a blast.

GOODNIGHT!
