'American Idol's James Durbin Kicks Off Tour at The Viper Room - Video

American Idol's Season 10 heavy metal rocker James Durbin kicked off his tour Thursday night, April 12, at The Viper Room in Los Angeles. After a rousing Idol performance of his new single "Higher Than Heaven," he quickly made his way over to the night club. LA rock band Vayden and Jared James Nichols opened the show, but (almost) everyone that came out for the event was there for the "Love Me Bad" singer.

"This is one of those days you come back for more, you just beg for it," he said at the start of a performance of album cut "Back for More."

Needless to say, after his over-the-top Idol performance, his debut album Memories of a Beautiful Disaster shot up from #130 to #5 on the iTunes.

Earlier this week, Durbin attended Revolver's Golden God Awards -- he was nominated for Best Lead Vocalist. However, he lost to Evanescence's Amy Lee.
