'American Idol' Winner Caleb Johnson wants to write a 'Zombie Rock Opera'

American Idol Season 13 winner Caleb Johnson told reporters that he wants to write a zombie rock opera! Cool. Zombies are kinda in right now with the popularity of The Walking Dead.

He said: "I want to write a rock opera. I want to do a zombie rock opera. I want to do something crazy out there."

Caleb, who auditioned three times before making it this season, added that he is not the stereotypical American Idol winner.

He said: "I mean, look at me guys. It's crazy... I’m probably the antithesis of what American Idols have been. American Idol is a pop show and I sing rock 'n' roll. I mean I sing Rush and Led Zeppelin as well as Aretha Franklin and Adele. What is so crazy is I think this is the first season that a rock 'n' roll singer has won. Not pop rock... just straight rock 'n' roll and some of the viewers didn’t like that because they are so accustomed to very nice, well, nice, good-looking people."

It's interesting that Caleb thinks this way since he is in fact the ideal American Idol contestant. The type of music he sings is what the loyal fan base wants to experience on the show. David Cook, Adam Lambert and James Durbin are all contestants from the past who rode the fantasies of middle-aged women viewers craving for a rock star from their youth. The median age of the typical Idol viewer is 51. Caleb sings songs from when these viewers were in their teens. It truly makes sense that he won this season.

No Caleb, you are not the antithesis. You are perfect.
