American Idol trimmed to One Show a Week?

American Idol has been renewed for Season 14, but it looks like there are plans to have it air once a week next year, just like Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.

FOX has already trimmed the results show to half an hour on Thursdays this season (and even that feel like filler honestly).

Hopefully, they get it right with the combined performance and elimination show. SYTYCD had some growing pains with the format and the verdict is still out for this summer. DWTS gets it right though. And on that note, who knew that the canceled Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew would be the blueprint that other shows would eventually follow!

No official news yet on FOX midseason schedule so this is still speculation.
