American Idol Top 9 Elvis Week - Recap + Poll + Roundup
Adam Lambert was the mentor for Elvis Week on American Idol. In an interview published earlier today, Ken Warwick said Adam was the mentor so that the show can help out his career which is faltering.
I thought Adam did a good job of mentoring -- and was quite critical of the singers. He helped out Tim Urban, Michael Lynche and Katie Stevens the most.
Crystal Bowersox - A solid performance as usual with an electric guitar. I think that now that the other singers are stepping up vocally, she needs to differentiate herself a bit more.
Andrew Garcia - Another week, another disaster. I am dreading the studio recording of this.
Tim Urban - Adam Lambert really like TURBAN! And apparently the judges as well. Tim has turned the corner is now a contender.
Lee Dewyze - A solid performance from Lee, and thankfully no bagpipes to distract us.
Aaron Kelly - Kara said Aaron was outside of his comfort zone and performed well because of that, and I liked this as well. However, Simon thought the studio was a high school auditorium.
Siobhan Magnus - Another contentious judging session with Siobhan! But I liked it. Siobhan is at her best toning it down and then belting solid notes when she needs to.
Michael Lynche - The best performance of the night, with just an acoustic guitar. His best since Woman's Work.
Katie Stevens - Katie's gaining a lot of confidence week after week! This was really great, and her vocals were on point.
Casey James - A solid performance from Casey, but Simon thought it was a wasted opportunity. Kara also wanted more. Here's a hint to both of them: I don't think there's anything more. He will have to sing naked if they want more excitement from him.
It's a double elimination tomorrow night, and I think Andrew Garcia and Aaron Kelly are in serious trouble. SAVE AARON KELLY! 1-866-IDOLS-05 - He's from a small town! He needs us!
