American Idol Top 12 Guys - Recap
I want to stay positive since if we start throwing these guys into the gutter this early we will all be miserable. But I have to cautiously agree with Simon Cowell: tonight was generally a bad show. Which you know what? Is not too bad. There's still two more weeks to "grow" -- so I will be in my "I hope Sanjaya continues to be pretty and sing better next week" mode.
I thought the best tonight was Blake Lewis, and then Chris Sligh. I was just a bit turned off by the senseless pimping of Phil Stacey by Randy and Paula tonight. I think they wanted to end the night on a high, but if it's a bad night, it's a bad night, you don't need to force the issue. I for one got turned off by the contestant they wanted to pimp, and its not his fault.
I am still rooting for Sanjaya Malakar until wherever this show will take him, and there's just something to be said about the hotness that is Jared Cotter. He can just stand there and I will dial his number. Don't you just want to stand really close to him and melt?
Shockingly (or not) Sundance Head and Paul Kim totally bombed tonight. I thought Sundance had zero appeal on stage and I have no idea what demographic he's appealing to. Simon is right: he's just around on the strength of his Stormy Monday audition and his audition alone. And Paul Kim was just all wrong. I mean he's already coming in with that stupid gimmick of his, and then he comes out singing Careless Whisper of all things. Careless Whisper in barefeet, blue contacts and trying to sound soulful? -- ridiculous.
Among the other guys: Chris Richardson, A.J. Tabaldo, Rudy Cardenas, Nick Pedro and Brandon Rogers -- Rudy and A.J. are in trouble of elimination this Thursday. Rudy being in the unfortunate position of #1 -- the odds of getting eliminated after singing first is quite high in the early rounds -- and A.J. could be the Judd Harris surprise this season. But so typical this year, just as we don't really know who's the front-runner -- it's hard to tell who'll be out.
I'm quite confident that some portions of tomorrow's show will be better. I'm sure my "girls" Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones will deliver.
And finally, I finished everything I wanted to do at 11:15 PM. I'm so awesome. Good night!
