American Idol Top 10 Guys - Recap

Sanjaya Malakar

I'm a little bit bummed out that Sanjaya Malakar was made to look like a fool by the Idol stylists this week. The moment I saw that hat in the opening, I had a funny feeling about how it was going to go down. I can see why Sanjaya would feel overwhelmed with all these people trying to dress him up as if he was some sort of doll -- he can't help being pretty, don't mess with it anymore. (But he was still pretty wasn't he?) Anyway, so with that I open this recap with:

I personally liked Blake Lewis the best again tonight. When Seacrest said Virtual Insanity before the break, I was like, shoot, Blake is probably the only one who could pull that off on American Idol. He did not disappoint.

Sundance Head finally put up a decent performance, but good as it was, it only showed that his range was in fact limited. He's a great singer singing Mustang Sally, but as we've seen, not a good one singing anything else. Let's see if he can pull it off again next week.

Phil Stacey opened the show quite well I thought, but reminded me a little bit of Aloha Mischeaux from Season 4. She sang last on Week 1 and the judges loved her, then sang first on Week 2 and was a surprise elimination. He'll probably stay, I guess I'm just being paranoid.

Jared Cotter again brought his sexy on tonight, but I fear that his audience are not the type who vote. You know, like me, they'd probably sit at one corner not knowing what had just happened to them. I have to be honest, I love this guy. I really can't concentrate when I'm watching him.

Chris Sligh played it safe during the judging which is a good move. Hope it works. I like him.

Chris Richardson again had a high energy performance, and he's a fan favorite apparently. One of my sure final 12s right now.

I think two from these three will be eliminated on Thursday: Nick Pedro, Brandon Rogers and A.J. Tabaldo. Perhaps the West Coast voters will bolster A.J.

A bit quicker with my updates tonight, yay. But unfortunately, when the site gets hammered like this between 8-9:30 PM ET, I'm at a loss. The cache thing helped, but it looks like I will need to buy more RAM for the server. Thanks for your patience.

Oh yes, we are still the fastest on the planet -- tell your friends about Rickey! Good night, I love you all!
