American Idol - Season 11 Idols Talk Judging Changes & Career Plans
American Idol Season 11 contestants, Heejun Han, Skylar Lane and Erika Van Pelt weigh in on the judging changes and discuss their career plans as the 2012 Idols Live Tour nears its end.
In a backstage interview with THR, several of the season 11 idols discussed their thoughts on the Idol judging changes and rumors and their future career plans.
Judging Changes:
Heejun Han: When asked what he thought about Mariah joining the panel, in typical Heejun deadpan style he replied "I don't care."
Skylar Lane: She thinks Carey is a good addition to the panel, but is still hopeful for a country artist like Brad Paisley to become a judge.
Erika Van Pelt: She is pulling for Nicki Minaj to take one of the open spots, saying she is a Minaj fan and while Nicki isn't everybody's taste, she feels like she would bring a fresh twist to the show. She thinks either Mariah or Nicki would have been great on her season of the show and feels the changes are going to make for a great season 12.
Career Plans:
Heejun: “I am working on an album and developing some television material.” “I’m really comfortable in front of the camera. If I can pursue both at the same time, it would be an awesome experience.”
“I want to bring something fresh to the table with songs about true love,” he said. “I want to be the go-to guy for romantic movies, and for Disney animation with songs about true love and fairytale love… beautiful songs so girls can go, 'awwww.'”
Skylar: Says her first album will be more southern country-rock, than pop. Although songs are in the process of being written, she does not yet have a record deal, stating 19E is waiting for the songs to be finished to shop her around to labels.
“I don’t want my first song released to be about how country I am,” she said, adding that her goal is to be the “girl version” of country singer Justin Moore. “I want to sing what people love, but I also want to sing what makes me happy,” she said.
Erika: She is writing new songs and considering a career in musical theater.
These three were all favorites of mine, so I hope their career plans work out for them.
