American Idol - Recap - Latin Night

Jennifer Lopez mentors the Idols on Latin Night.

Melinda Doolittle -- Sway -- Simon manages to inject a negative comment about Melinda, and she responds: "I'm happy because I think he really wanted to say something bad and I'm glad he had the chance." Bravo. Points for Melinda!

Lakisha Jones — Conga -- Kiki's star has been in steady decline, but I am glad that she is still fighting. However, I think the first diva may fall tomorrow, in another patented American Idol shocker. Plus it will get Jennifer Hudson's name in the mix since this is about the time she got eliminated in Season 3 and LaKisha sang 'And I am Telling You...'

Chris Richardson — Smooth -- Great performance from Chris. Cake can do no wrong in my book.

Haley Scarnato — Turn the Beat Around -- Simon said that Haley's tactic was to wear as less clothes as possible (similar to LaKisha's 'show as much cleavage as possible' LOL). I think it literally has legs. (Sorry bad pun, just getting it out of the way.) One more week for Haley -- we need men watching this show you know.

Phil Stacey — Maria Maria -- This had potential, but I sense that Phil is getting angry at not getting any love from the judges.

Jordin Sparks — Rhythm is Gonna Get You -- Sanjaya's best friend is loved by the judges. Go Jordin!

Blake Lewis — I Need To Know -- Blake is getting stronger week by week. Would be great to see him peak in the finals. Go Cake!

Finally, the night belonged to Sanjaya Malakar (as usual, hahaha) singing Bésame Mucho. In a bit of a sideshow, Tom Lowe was cheering with Shyamali in the audience. Everybody is in a feeding-frenzy with Sanjaya I tell you. Sigh. Go Sanjaya!

Update: Some new words to add to our Sanjaya Malakar Dictionary (thanks Gen):

malakarpal tunnel syndrome -- what you get in your dialing hand on Tuesday nights
sanjausted -- what you feel after two hours dialing like crazy
sanjarrific -- preternaturally (?) amazing
