American Idol 9 Top 24 by Twitter, Facebook and MySpace Followers

The TV Addict has compiled the numbers of Twitter, Facebook and MySpace followers of the American Idol 9 Top 24 contestants so far and not surprisingly, Andrew Garcia is in the lead.

Andrew is a YouTube 'star' so his followers from YouTube most likely just carried over. It would be interesting to see how the numbers shape up when the voting opens for the semi-finals this week and when the Top 12 are announced.

This is such a low sampling so I wouldn't give too much weight on it for now. Obviously the guys in the lead have early "grass roots" support. We'll probably have a better indication of popularity once Ryan Seacrest announces the Twitter accounts and what not on TV this week.

Can Twitter, Facebook and MySpace followers spoil the winner this year? We'll have to wait and see.
