American Idol 9 Top 16 (Top 8 Guys) - Recap + Poll + Roundup

I thought it was a great show tonight! I was very entertained. And if you are following me on Twitter you know how excited I was. (Note: It's so much better to watch this show while reading my tweets - LOL).
We had a couple of firsts:
1. Ellen DeGeneres going up to the stage to hug Tim Urban for a job well done. I thought that was fantastic. The judges said Tim could be one of the front-runners now with the guys.
2. Kara DioGuardi crying after Michael Lynche sang A Woman's Work - referring to herself as a "woman who doesn't have a child". I ended up crying too! I love you Kara! The judges said Michael could be the one to beat after tonight.
The person I think who is in the most trouble is Aaron Kelly. So please, please, please vote for him! 1-866-IDOLS-06. He's from a small town and he needs our help with votes.
Alex Lambert is also in a bit of trouble as he didn't get much praise for his singing, although a lot of praise for his personality. He's now a mushy banana according to Ellen.
Andrew Garcia also had a rough night with judging. I think that's it for him -- he may reach the Top 12, but there is no way he can win if the so-called standards for him are too high now. He's trying too hard to be revolutionary every week and it is showing that he may just have been lucky with "Straight Up".
Lee Dewyze opened the show with Fireflies which I thought was great. Haters to the left please. And Casey James played it safe -- but he is safe into the Top 12.
Finally, Todrick Hall was labeled a Broadway performer by Simon Cowell -- but it wasn't a negative comment unlike in previous years. The judges said they heard good singing with his performance of Somebody To Love.
My picks to leave are Aaron Kelly and Lee Dewyze

AI9 Boys, Let's Roll The Videotape (Soundtrack to my Day) - Frankly, that was not a great show, but it also wasn't terrible. But it left me with no clue on who is going home. There were certainly no stand-out performances for me. I would have a tough time saying who was best tonight, or who was worse.
American Idol top 8 recap, rankings, poll (Rodney Ho) - The men have improved week in and week out, especially as we’ve weeded out the weaker ones. This was a decent night overall and a bit less sleepy compared to last night.
Two men rise (Tim & Michael), six go limp. (Miami Herald) - Crystal and Siobhan raised the bar Tuesday night higher than any of the Idol men have climbed this season. Tonight, the guys try to keep up or they risk departure like the bunch below come Thursday.
Top 16 Guys Recap - Can I Remember the Performances Without Looking at My Notes? (Vote for the Worst) - Well tonight officially cements American Idol as a waste of time. It always was, mind you. But tonight, the show basically said, “We don’t care to bring you good performances. We don’t care to bring you funny performances. We care to bring you tepid monotony. An hour of tepid monotony.”
'American Idol' Recap: 'Love' Is The Answer For Todrick Hall (Billboard) - I have to say, the song spoilers that leaked this afternoon made me super excited for tonight's show - and not in a nice way. I actually cackled. Simon Cowell winked in the intro. He knows what's up.
Michael Lynche Makes ‘American Idol’ His Own (Maura Johnston) - After Michael’s performance, Kara kind of freaked out — I even used the word “verklempt” to a friend when describing her tears. “Why was Kara talking about her fertility?” a concerned friend e-mailed me after coming to the proceedings late. And that is probably all I have to say about Kara’s rediscovered tendency to make every singer’s performance her own.
