American Idol 9 Top 16 (Top 8 Girls) - Recap + Poll + Roundup

The show went by superfast tonight! This is what happens when Fox removes all the filler.

I am a bit worried because this may be the last night we will see of one of my favorites Katie Stevens. She didn't do too well singing Breakaway, plus she was given the RED LIGHT treatment and she sang first. It would take a miracle to get her into the Top 12 now. It's possible that the young girls have all gravitated towards Siobhan and left Katie out in the cold.

Speaking of Siobhan Magnus, she was sensational. I thought she sang a brilliant rendition of House of the Rising Sun. Lacey Brown also sang nicely -- but Simon said that she may have been a bit forgettable. (For Katie's sake -- I hope! Sorry Lacey fans!)

Another potential "just missed the Top 12" is Katelyn Epperly who sang I Feel the Earth Move. It seems the judges did everything in their power to give her bad comments, but I thought she was decent.

Didi Benami sang Rhiannon. I love her. My heart belongs to her this season. I hope she keeps singing like this week after week and I don't mind if she cries along the way. She's so emotional and I love it.

Paige Miles is the last black "diva" standing. The black diva always makes it to the Top 12 so even if the judges threw her under the bus mercilessly, she should make it.

Crystal Bowersox sang Give Me One Reason -- and Simon Cowell said the title was "hers to lose". Wow. Can she sustain this for 11 more weeks? Are we looking at the next American Idol or the shock elimination to end all shock eliminations?

Lilly Scott closes the show with her mandolin. Safe into the Top 12 of course.

My picks to leave are Katie Stevens and Didi Benami.

Who was your favorite?
