American Idol 9 Top 10 - Recap + Poll + Roundup
I really loved tonight's episode. Very entertaining. Just a good amount of trainwrecks and winners. Great banter from the judges. Although some weird "filler" behind-the-scenes moments after the contestants sang. Usher was a good mentor.
Siobhan Magnus - Not the best vocal from Siobhan as she missed too many notes -- and the only ones she hit was when she screamed. Could be time for her to bring it down a notch next week.
Casey James - Another safe song - but he did sound good. I agree with Kara that he needs to take some risks and not always play it safe.
Michael Lynche - I was too distracted by the fact that he sang behind the judges. At least this performance was not over the top like his previous ones.
Didi Benami - Poor song choice. I liked the whole emotional Didi drama, but this just missed the mark completely. She should not sing songs like this. I hope she realized it tonight, but it looks like she was still caught up in the moment when the judges critiqued her.
Tim Urban - I like Turban! I still don't understand why he's getting hammered by the judges on his singing. I guess I'm a fan with blinders on.
Andrew Garcia - He turned the corner this week! Good song choice and great idea to bring himself back to his acoustic roots. Plus, an appearance by his mother helped with the judges banter. But was all this enough to stop the slide?
Katie Stevens - Solid vocal but another "old" song. She's taking baby steps now, and I hope it doesn't catch up with her. They're not eliminating a third girl in a row right?
Lee Dewyze - The best vocal of the night and a performance that could land him in the finale in my opinion.
Crystal Bowersox - As good as Crystal was tonight, I can't help but be reminded of Melinda Doolittle's American Idol journey. Just solid every night, but not enough to win.
Aaron Kelly - I suspect this sounded better in the studio recording. Aaron's nerves got the better of him, but I could see the intent. He's one of the ones to watch now.

‘American Idol’ top 10 performance recap, rankings, poll (Rodney Ho) - This isn’t a top 10 that would be known for its soul (the them for the night). Good voices, mostly so. Stage presence and heart? Not so much.
“American Idol” Expands (And Expands) To Fill Its Space (Maura Johnston) - Tonight’s ‘American Idol‘ was devoted to soul, rhythm, and blues, but it was just as devoted to the art of killing time.
Top 10 Recap - Tim Urban Laughs at the Judges, Simon Laughs at His Competition (Vote for the Worst) - This week, the Idol contestants performed R&B songs and the judges ripped them apart for not being good enough. Yep, 9 more weeks of mediocrity before the finale.

MJ’s Take: The ‘American Idol’ Top 10 Makes A Rebound (AOL Television) - In an attempt to pump even MORE drama into the performance show, the cameras followed the contestants backstage after their performances. There was really not much to see back there — hello, pointless time-waster!
