American Idol 9 Top 10 in Central Park - Outtakes and Pictures
Here are some pictures and a video montage of the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series this morning featuring the American Idol 9 Top 10. I was there!
First of all, I'm was happy to be there. I was part of the "media" taking pictures of the event. It was very interesting listening in on the conversations of the photographers -- they were very snarky! LOL. It would have been better if we had an opportunity to go up close the Idols, but we were stuck in the back but on risers. I think in the future I will bring a foldable stool with me since that's what almost everyone had -- and they had big-ass lenses. Sheesh.
It was also nice to hear this season's Idols perform live -- although I did listen to some of them in Jones Beach outside the venue. (I left and did not go in because security did not allow me to go in with my camera -- and I wasn't going to leave my camera with the valet sitting in front of a hut). They all sounded great.

The first part of the video montage shows the Idols up close, but the second half, you will see that this was not a well attended event. One of the photographers estimated less than 300 people there. Last year, when David Cook, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen took the stage for the Summer Concert Series, the audience was at least 3 times as big. I feel bad that American Idol has come to this. But it looks like this is the future. Unless, Idol just launches a barrage of Justin Bieber wannabees next season hoping at least one of them sticks -- that's all you need really.
It also rained, which sucked. Mostly for my cameras, so I had to run back to a place with cover.
This week, I got an invitation to do the press for Bridgeport, and after I confirmed, it was denied again -- just like last year. So I consider this my big moment for Season 9. I have no plans of going to any tour stop at the moment -- so I'm just going to look forward to the media blitz for the album releases for Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox. Hopefully, Aaron Kelly will record one in a few months!
