American Idol 8 - The Top Performances of the Season
Here are my Top Performances of the Season
1. Mad World - Adam Lambert
DVRs around the country stopped working as the show went overtime -- and a mad scramble to watch this amazing performance followed. It it the most popular song of the season.
2. Scream On - Danny Gokey
Danny will forever be known for the scream heard around the world at the end of Dream On. Some people think this was bad, but I think it was pure entertainment. This is what live television is all about. Making 20+ million people cringe in unison? Priceless.
3. Heartless - Kris Allen
Arguably the song that landed Kris in the finale and eventually win the title. While Adam and Danny were trying to sing their faces off with older songs in the Top 3, this performance was current and connected with today's audience.
4. Cry Baby (Reprise) - Allison Iraheta
One of the best swan songs on American Idol ever.
5. Tracks of My Tears - Adam Lambert
The turning point. Adam toned things down and looked like a winner in everyone's eyes and ears.
6. Ain't No Sunshine - Kris Allen
When everyone was being dubbed as a potential dark horse, Kris quitely sang on the keyboard and became a contender.
7. She Works Hard for the Money - Kris Allen
An unlikely song choice that showed us what Kris can do to any song on his acoustic guitar.
8. Ring of Fire - Adam Lambert
One of the most controversial performances of the season. This galvanized Adam's fans and his haters, and put the media spotlight firmly on him.
9. Hero - Danny Gokey
This song alone made people believe that Danny could win it all.
10. Always on My Mind - Anoop Desai
After a disastrous start in the Top 13, Anoop redeemed himself with this performance prompting Simon to say: You went from zero to hero.
11. So Small - Matt Giraud
Though I liked Human Nature the best for Matt personally, this song closed the show on Grand Ole Opry night and deservedly so.
12. PYT Pretty Young Thing - Danny Gokey
This is a personal favorite. I couldn't stop singing this song in my head after Danny sang it.
13. If I Can't Have You - Adam Lambert
Another personal favorite of mine. Although Adam loves the screaming falsetto, he really shines with the slow and tender songs.
14. Alone - Allison Iraheta
Arguably the best Alone every sung on American Idol. Even better than Carrie Underwood's which was phenomenal.
15. To Make You Feel My Love - Kris Allen
I loved this performance. The studio version of this is amazing.
16. Vision of Love - Kara DioGuardi
Throw in an amazing vocal plus a bikini and smashing bod, Kara proved once and for all that she forever belonged on this cheesy show. I love you Kara! I'm a fan for life! Six words: Artistry!
17. Wild Angels - Scott MacIntyre
I'm throwing this in here because, you know, it is the song that created The Wild Angels on Rickey TV - the best roundtable of fans ever.
18. True Colors - Anoop Desai
One of my favorite songs of the season. Unfortunately, I don't share the same taste as the rest of America as it landed Anoop in the Bottom 3.
So what do you guys think were the top performances of the season? What are your favorites?
