American Idol 7 Spoilers Reveal Many Professional Contestants
Joesplace -- the biggest security breach in American Idol history -- just updated the list of contestants who made it to the Top 50.
Meanwhile, Dave from Vote for the Worst has some insight on the many professional contestants this year who have made it to the Top 50. Dave says that American Idol 7 is too professionalized, and that the producers are lying about "undiscovered talent" because their goal is to push these failed artists down our throat. That's a fair assessment, but I share in MJ's sentiment that I don't have a problem with singers exploring all possible opportunities to succeed. Yes, it would be really nice if a truly undiscovered phenom auditioned for American Idol like Kelly Clarkson or Clay Aiken (and that person will probably be very popular), but the show is so huge now everyone wants a shot at it. As far as I'm concerned, it's all about the 4 months the show is on and whatever record contract and sales that come out of it is just icing on the cake. You can never dictate what music people will listen to since that is beyond anyone's control, but you can at least put out an entertaining show every week.
I think Dave is reacting to the big elephant in the room, the 2-year-hype that is Carly Hennessy. Given her credentials and what we've witnessed in the past, I think she has shock elimination written all over her if she makes it to the Top 24. I'm still on the lookout for a country-dude who might be the chosen one this year.
