American Idol 7 - iTunes Top 20 - 03/29/08 - Update
Here are the latest screencaps of the charts of American Idol on iTunes (as of 4:32 PM). David Cook's "Billie Jean" is now #2 on the overall iTunes weekly chart, so the American Idol "surge" is over for the week. David Archuleta's "You're The Voice" and Michael Johns' "We are the Champions" have also fallen to #19 and #20 respectively. Interestingly enough, Chris Cornell's "Billie Jean" is at #65 (without the Idol music).
For overall sales, David Cook has 3 songs in the Top 5: "Billie Jean" at #1, "Eleanor Rigby" at #3 and "Hello" at #4. "Day Tripper" is at #11. Brooke White is still the best-selling female with "Let It Be" at #2, "Every Breath You take" at #9, "Love is a Battlefield" at #16 and "Here Comes the Sun" at #18.
David Archuleta's best seller is now "You're The Voice" at #5. "Imagine" is at #6 and "Long and Winding Road" at #10. Not shown in the screencap is "Another Day in Paradise" which is at #21.
Jason Castro and Carly Smithson continue to have consistent sales with 3 songs in the Top 20. Michael Johns has 2. Kristy Lee Cook enters the Top 20 for the first time with "God Bless the U.S.A." at #17.
Looking at these graphs "Billie Jean" has more than doubled the sales of the #2 song "Let It Be" so it looks like it will be #1 for a while, unless someone comes up with a similar hit on the show. 9 weeks left, anything can still happen.
(I think I'll update the charts twice during the week from now on. One during the "Idol surge" and then another one during the weekend when things settle down.)
