American Idol 2014 - Top 7 Theme is WHAT?!
American Idol 2014 is getting down to the wire, as we're at roughly the halfway point of the competition. So, naturally, the themes are likely going to get tougher. But the theme for Top 7 Week is really something. In fact, it could either be one of the better nights of the competition, or a complete, unmitigated disaster.
The theme? A special "Competitors' Pick" theme in which each finalist will select a song for his or her fellow contestant from a list of six songs each contestant provides his or herself. So which contestants will be assigned to each other? It's essentially the show's take on a messed-up Secret Santa arrangement, except instead of last-minute, gas station gifts, contestants could potentially sabotage each other by saddling them with "Against All Odds" or "Alone" or "I Believe I Can Fly" (God help each and every last one of us, if any one of these contestants is crazy enough to put one of those songs on their list).
Of course, I have no idea how the show is actually going to make this equitable, since common sense would suggest doing this theme when there's an even number of contestants left. But then, I'm not Per Blankens. I will give the show credit though. At least it's not The Music of Lieber and Stoller, Take 3.
