Let's get this show on the road!

Recap

-We open with a backstage montage of the contestants talking about their performances (Alex wanted to do his song justice, while Jena hoped the crowd had as much fun with it as she did, etc.). This is all set against the backdrop of a Billboard chart, in accordance with last night's theme. Ah well, it's better they did that than an iTunes chart, given the unfortunate placement of many of these contestants.

-The judges enter, and this crowd is AMPED for some reason. Seriously, were they handing out Red Bulls before going live?

POST-SHOW SUPPER CLUB

-It's the weekly post-show performance reactions, as the contestants go out to dinner and talk about the night. The contestants confirm Sam's concerns: he looks TIMID! Jessica was amused (a-meused? Okay, I'll stop) by Keith's impression of Harry during the show. Malaya gives Majesty a rose (because of course), and everyone pretty much enjoyed when Ryan impersonated Caleb. Because I guess somebody had to. Basically, this becomes less about what the contestants thought about their performances, and more about what they thought was funny about last night. It also shows their camaraderie, I suppose. Honestly, it's kind of endearing, even if it is mostly fluff. I expect this segment to disappear completely when the results show slides back to a half-hour.

RESULTS, PT. 1

-Ryan calls up Malaya, Dexter, and Jessica, and then throws to the video of Randy's thoughts...

-Randy is happy Malaya didn't play the piano, since he thought it gave her more of an opportunity to make an emotional connection with the song; Randy thought Dexter was lost on the stage, and needed to do more to sell that performance; and my TV shorted out for ten seconds, prompting me to completely miss whatever Randy said about Jessica. I'm sure it was super-important and thoughtful.

-After a special video message for Dexter from Florida Georgia Line, Ryan gets to the results...

JESSICA MEUSE is safe!

MALAYA WATSON is safe!

DEXTER ROBERTS is in the Bottom 3!

-So I guess that congratulatory video from Florida Georgia Line was to salve the burn of a bottom 3 appearance. Honestly though, it was about time for him to end up here.

-After break, we get a segment of J-Lo talking about the first time she heard herself on the radio. Apparently, he was in a cab, and "If You Had My Love" suddenly came on. Man, I hated that song so much. But good for her.

JENNIFER LOPEZ PERFORMS "I LUH YA PAPI"

-So it starts out with a skit, in which J-Lo and Pia Toscano (!), Jessica Sanchez (!!), and Alison Iraheta (!!!) discuss their favorites for Season 13. It's incredibly corny, as they talk about Sam being cute, and splitting their favoritism between Dexter, Caleb, and Alex. But whatever, I'm just happy to see the alums back. They do some crazy harmonizing to kick off the performance, and maybe J-Lo should just ditch this solo career and form a girl group with these three?

-I say this because, frankly, "I Luh Ya Papi" is a terrible frigging song. Not even the surprise appearance by French Montana can save it. Although I will say there's some intensely amusing about Harry dancing in the audience like a goof.

-Seriously though, this song is a crime. Enjoy it below!

[HD] JLO - I Luh Ya Papi (Ft Jessica Sanchez... by IdolxMuzic

-Back from break, Keith recalls the first time he heard himself on the radio, and I'm immediately distracted by the performance footage they're showing, as Keith just rips across the stage. In the studio, Ryan talks with Keith about how the producers found the old vinyl, and during all of this, J-Lo comes out from backstage to a raucous ovation from the crowd. Ryan says that Harry is joking about co-writing the song. Harry then creepily talks about how sexy it is when she says "Papi," and then asks her to say it. You know I love ya, Harry. But no.

-Ryan asks J-Lo who her "papi" is, and if we're not speaking colloquially, it would probably be her father. But since we are...hell if I know. She says we already know the answer, but I promise you I don't. We Puerto Ricans used to share a psychic link, but that ended about the time everyone got us confused for Cubans during the Elian Gonzalez unpleasantness.

RESULTS, PT. 2

-Ryan calls up Caleb, Majesty, and Alex.

-Randy briefly talks about Caleb's performance, before we go into how Majesty looked uncomfortable. Majesty says she wasn't uncomfortable at all, and was actually really happy with her performance, although you'd have never been able to tell. Randy is high on Alex though.

-Before the results, Caleb offers a sincere apology to anyone he might have offended with his peanut allergy joke, and it's a crack I'm trying to remember. Seriously, I have no memory of what he's talking about. But he's really sincere, and the audience finds it really endearing. And so do I, honestly. He seems like a Good Guy Rocker. Sure, he'll trash the hotel, but he'll pay for it. And if he sleeps with backstage hangers-on, he'll call the next day, maybe even buy them breakfast.

-Anyway, onto the results...

ALEX PRESTON is safe!

CALEB JOHNSON is safe!

MAJESTY ROSE is in the Bottom 3!

-AGAIN?! I actually thought last night was her best performance since the Top 13 started. Man, has she cooled off in recent weeks. I feel terrible for her, because she really doesn't belong in the bottom. But hey, if American Idol were a meritocracy, there would rarely be any real drama.

-Back from break, and Harry talks about the first time he heard himself on the radio. It was part of a covers contest when he was a junior in high school as part of a band called Octane. Their single won and got played on the local radio -- to vehement hatred from people in the community, who thought it was the worst thing ever. Harry performs some of it back in the studio, and yeah, that's kind of bad.

ROYAL TEETH PERFORMS "WILD"

-Harry introduces the band, for whom he got this gig. Apparently, they all quit their jobs to go touring in 2012, and have since become one of the hardest working acts in the music industry.

-The lead singer, who looks for all the world like Nic Hawk from last season of The Voice, tells the crowd he wants to feel their energy on the song. Whatever happened to just waving your hands in the air, possibly like you just don't care?

-I like the harmonies between the lead singer and the female singer in the group, who looks like Rick Castle's daughter, Alexis. The song isn't really my bag, but it's clear this is a talented group, and I'm glad they're getting a shot, even if the viewership is a mere fraction of what it once was. Hell, in the past two weeks, I've downloaded iTunes singles solely off of being introduced to an act on the results show, so I'm not at all averse to the practice of booking obscure acts. Still, I wish we got more Idol alums.

Royal Teeth - Wild - American Idol by IdolxMuzic

-Back from break, and Ryan talks about hearing himself on the radio for the first time. He says he sounded like he was about to throw up, and does an impression of his voice introducing the song "Do You Believe In Us" by Jon Secada. Kind of funny. The judges try to get him to sing it back in the studio, but Ryan responds with, "I know I'm not six foot, and I know I can't sing."

RESULTS, PT. 3

-Ryan calls up Sam, Jena, MK and CJ.

-Randy thinks Sam was great, and refutes Harry's assertion that Sam is timid and not growing from week-to-week. Randy felt Jena showed her artistry, and has now had two great weeks in a row. MK says she thought last night was one of her best performances until she messed up, and Randy agrees. Randy says CJ was sharp all the way, and the performance was just plain off.

-Ryan throws to a video from Hunter Hayes, who tells CJ he's happy for him, and says he's honored to have CJ sing it. "This is what music's all about, man. ... I hope we get to jam together soon." Cute. But will this be like Dexter's consolation video? Time for results...

CJ HARRIS is safe!

JENA IRENE is safe!

SAM WOOLF is safe!

MK NOBILETTE is in the Bottom 3!

-So CJ MUST have some serious backing from his home state, because the man has just failed to deliver on the potential he had in Hollywood and in the semifinals. By any standard, he should have landed in the bottom 3 after that performance. Hopefully, this is a wake-up call. But if it's not, dude needs to be sent packing. Which sucks to have to say, because I was SUCH a fan of him in the early going.

FINAL RESULTS

-Ryan wishes them all luck as he reads the final results...

MAJESTY ROSE is safe!

DEXTER ROBERTS is safe!

MK NOBILETTE received the fewest number of votes!

-MK gets nervous and takes time to discuss her song, "All of Me," with Rickey Minor and the band. She seems really concerned.

-Her performance of "All of Me" by John Legend is the best thing she's done since Top 13 started, and the most emotion she's shown during a performance ever. J-Lo is already in tears, probably because she knows they're not going to save her. That said, the judges are discussing it. Ryan interviews MK after the performance, and she talks about how much she wants to be here. The judges are still discussing, and Ryan basically has to press them for an answer. The crowd is PLEADING with these judges to save her.

-J-Lo can't bring herself to break the news, so Harry does the honors: it wasn't unanimous.

MK NOBILETTE has been eliminated from AMERICAN IDOL 2014!

-Her version of "Breakaway" for the farewell video is the nicest yet, in my opinion. MK was one of my favorites, even as I understood she was never going to win the thing. I just like a dark horse every now and then (and hey, sometimes dark horses do win. The Kris Allen Principle).

Final Results & Elimination (Top 10) - American... by IdolxMuzic

-So what did you think of the results? Did we get the right bottom 3? The right elimination? Would you have saved MK? Sound off in the comments! As for me, I'll be adding videos as soon as they become available, so keep checking back! Until next week, thanks for hanging out!
