American Idol 12 - Finale Song Spoilers

As the twelfth season of American Idol draws to a close, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison take the stage for one last vocal throwdown, tackling Simon Fuller's Choice, a Favorite Performance/Reprisal, and the Coronation Single.

Thanks to The Idol Pad, the song spoilers for the final performance episode are now out in the open. Check out the full list below:

Candice Glover - "Chasing Pavements" by Adele Candice Glover - "I (Who Have Nothing)" by Ben E. King (Reprise) Candice Glover - "I Am Beautiful" (Coronation Single) Kree Harrison - "All Cried Out" (Coronation Single) Kree Harrison - "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan Kree Harrison - "Up To The Mountain (M.K.K. Song)" by Patty Griffin/Solomon Burke (Reprise)

In additional finale news, Kree won the coin toss and elected to give Candice the show-closing spot.

While this helps Glover's chances considerably, it's hard to count Kree out, given that four of the previous eleven winners earned the Idol crown after performing first. Then again, some might argue that, in instances where the person performing first won (Ruben Studdard, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery and Phillip Phillips), it was a case where the contestant in question was likely always going to win no matter what the performance order had been, since America had more or less made up its mind already.

Yet I'm not sure we can say that about this finale, as the title is very much up for grabs. Candice is generally regarded as one of the best pure vocalists the show has ever had, with a sizable catalog of outstanding performances. Meanwhile, Kree has an emotional backstory, and the underdog narrative behind her (to say nothing of having the largest state in the country voting for her). Anyway you cut it, this has the potential to be one of the closest finales in history. Unless, of course, I'm just hilariously wrong about all of this, and one contestant wins in a Kris Allen-esque landslide. (Lord knows, given my batting average for this season, that's just as likely.)

What do you think of these song choices? Who's got the edge? Sound off in the comments!
