American Idol 11 Top 9 Take On 'Songs From Their Idols,' Nicki Minaj & Scotty McCreery Perform
It looks like Nigel Lythgoe has opened up a new theme. Phew! I was getting worried there. The theme for American Idol 11's Top 9 is "Song from Their Idols"--which should allow the youngsters to break out some music from the past decade. Also, Nicki Minaj and Scotty McCreery are set to perform on the results show. Yay!
Nigel tweeted last night:next week they're singing their #IDOL's songs. Beyonce, Mariah, Miranda, Lifehouse, Daughtry, Led Zeppelin. Now that should be interesting?— Nigel Lythgoe (@dizzyfeet) March 23, 2012
YES! Finally a relevant theme! Well, mostly. I wouldn't call Led Zeppelin relevant, but this still bodes well. The past several days, Nigel has taken to his Twitter to get the help of fans about possible themes.
He began his "search" for modern themes by tweeting:
I'm wondering which other "modern" artist has a big singbook we should be singing. We've done Adele, Bruno, GaGa, Pink, Alicia. — Nigel Lythgoe (@dizzyfeet) March 22, 2012
Then:
I was asking for 'modern' suggestions for music themes and I got Madonna, Elvis, BeeGees, Bacharach, Eagles, Aerosmith all great but modern? — Nigel Lythgoe (@dizzyfeet) March 22, 2012And:
The "Hot 100" probably gives the contestants the most choice and is the most up to date. Thanks for the idea.— Nigel Lythgoe (@dizzyfeet) March 22, 2012
It looks like he's trying to save this show!!!
