American Idol 11 - Top 6 Power List
This week, American Idol's Top 6 will take on two songs each. First will be a Queen song and then a song of their choosing. I just love wide open themes. They've worked the best so far. Keep 'em coming, Nigel! Will these kids be able to handle a rock song?!
Before we get to their performances tonight, I've broken down the Top 6. After the "shocking" elimination of Colton Dixon last week -- who was at the top of my power list -- anything can happen at this point. I would love to see P2 topple to the bottom this week.
1. Phillip Phillips - He is still flying steady in my mind. He hasn't had an Idol moment, but he wields a guitar and he's cute. WGWG FTW!!! Even if he coasts the rest of the season, he could still win. However, I thought Colton was a lock for the finale. P2 could win...or he could be the next to go. However, since he'll be in the competition, I would love to see him get emotional and show his vulnerability. That could send him over the top.

2. Skylar Laine - Her stock in this competition continues to climb at a rapid pace. After several good to stellar performances over the past few weeks -- including "Heard it Through the Grapevine" last week -- she's the only girl who could potentially win this competition. Before you start hating on me, I do like Jessica, but more on that next. Skylar needs to continue to show us her versatility in selecting songs and mixing up the arrangements. She's shown her artistic ability throughout this competition, even without getting any credit from the judges. Tonight, she could have a moment with the right Queen song.
3. Jessica Sanchez - Yes, she was "eliminated" a few weeks ago, and I don't see this girl going any higher than third. There is obviously a disconnect between her and most of voting America. She has an incredible set of pipes, but something isn't clicking. What she needs tonight is a Jordin Sparks "I Who Have Nothing" style performance. As I've mentioned before numerous times, her Las Vegas group performance was phenomenal and heartfelt. Go back to that, girl.
4. Joshua Ledet - The black diva never dies, and I see this diva cracking the top four. He's landed in the bottom only once, and America seems to really love him. Last week was a rocky week for me for him for me for him. While he's great at delivering vocal acrobatics, it is just too much. He needs to learn more restraint when he's performing. A stripped down and tender performance tonight could really do the trick. I want to love you, dude!
5. Elise Testone - She will forever be remembered as the Queen of season 11. Last week, she had a great performance with "No One," but seemed to stumble a bit with a bad song choice in "Let's Get It On." However, she avoided being eliminated, thankfully. Tonight is tailor-made for this girl. She needs to have another rockin' performance ala "Whole Lotta Love." She also needs to show her vulnerability and have a Crystal Bowersox crying performance ("People Get Ready") to show America she's human. Heh.
6. Hollie Cavanagh - Hollie really pushed herself last week and actually surprised me with her "Rolling in the Deep" cover. However, this girl needs to go. I love her, but she's clearly not ready to handle the pressure. Vocally, she has a sweet tone to her voice but mostly lacks a connection to her material. Did you catch her version of "Son of a Preacher Man"? Um, do you know what it's about? It's about sexual awakening. Yea. I don't think this competition or the judges are really doing their jobs to help her.
So, what does your power list look like? Do you agree or disagree with my rankings?
